Why was LAGE created?
LAGE was not created because I wanted to launch another project.
It started with a series of questions.
Questions that many people ask, but few are willing to answer.
What happens when an entire generation can no longer afford to buy a home?
What happens when public debt continues to grow faster than the economy?
What happens when young people begin to believe they will have a lower standard of living than their parents?
What happens when retirement systems become increasingly difficult to sustain?
And what happens when the natural world that supports us begins to show signs of stress?
Rivers and groundwater are becoming polluted. Plastic waste can now be found almost everywhere on Earth.
Forests continue to disappear. Glaciers are melting. Permafrost is thawing. Oceans are filling with waste.
These challenges may appear unrelated.
Housing. Debt. Affordability. Retirement. Pollution. Environmental degradation.
But the more we looked at them, the more they seemed connected.
In many cases, we are consuming resources today while passing the costs to future generations.
Financial costs.
Social costs.
Environmental costs.
That realization became the starting point for LAGE.
Looking Beyond the Next Election
Most public discussions focus on the next month, the next quarter, or the next election.
We believe some challenges require a much longer perspective.
The decisions made today will shape the lives of people who have not yet entered the workforce, bought their first home, started a business, raised a family, or retired.
The future cannot be built by solving only today’s problems.
It requires creating systems, projects, and opportunities that can continue generating value for decades while respecting the limits of the natural world.
Building Instead of Complaining
It is easy to identify problems.
It is much harder to build solutions.
LAGE is an attempt to move from discussion to action.
The projects presented on this website represent different approaches to the same goal:
Creating opportunities, strengthening communities, supporting innovation, encouraging responsible stewardship of resources, and helping build a better future for the next generation.
We do not claim to have all the answers.
But we believe that meaningful progress begins when people decide to start building.
Because every generation leaves something behind.
The question is whether we leave behind opportunities or problems.
LAGE was created from the belief that we should leave behind something better.

And of course, I personally do it for him….
